So…. I guess I’ll continue where I left off…. 6 months ago ūüôā

Lets get things started with a quick little recap of previous events. This site, and a few other “build threads” from back when I frequented internet forums, is built off of a car I purchased in February of 2005. It catapulted me into the ridiculous sport that is known as drifting. I was still in highschool, about to graduate, and every one of my friends had Honda Civics, Integras…. stuff like that. I had stumbled upon the 240sx and, subsequently, drifting. I don’t know about anyone else, or what they think about the sport, but once I discovered the “drifting” world/community…. my life was completely changed. Drifting had been around for a few years by the time I found it, but it was still a relatively new sport in the US back in 2003/2004 when I had really started to look at these cars.

I made the purchase through a local drifting forum called D-Town which is pretty much dormant nowadays. It took me a couple summers to get the car to where I wanted it, but once it was running, I drove it through college and countless events across the country. From the midwest states of Minnesota and South Dakota, to southern Arizona and eastern Florida. It allowed me to meet some of the coolest people on the planet and I can truly say I have a set of life-long friends in each of those states. As a matter of fact, most of these people I would not know today if I hadn’t started drifting.

Now, getting to the point of this post. As it turns out, there is a circle of life for all things. It seems that most cars snatched up by teenagers learning how to drift somehow end up killing the car within the first year or two. I guess I could consider myself luck it lasted close to 8 years.

Anyways, this car no longer exists…. here’s how it happened:

While driving a local grassroots event at Three Palms Speedway in Punta Gorda, FL, my rear tire de-laminated coming off the bank. I could feel the vibration from a flap on the tire, but didn’t really think much of it. The tires were high performance tires of a quality brand that were given to me as used tires, very similar to tires I’d used at numerous other events. They were still extremely healthy looking and I had only done a single lap on them beforehand. I was in disbelieve they could be shredding so fast so I decided to stay in it (bad move). Anyways, I came off the bank, transitioned onto the straight (the car felt pretty loose) and transitioned again back into the opposing bank….spinning right into a wall.

I was really lucky that the wall was lined with monster truck tires as I came in pretty hot. My passenger and I were fine and we let the track crew check us out quick before we dragged the car off the track back to the pits. Going back to that drifting community I was talking about earlier. It’s pretty amazing how fast all of my friends rounded up a truck and trailer for me to load it onto. I honestly hadn’t even thought about how I was going to get it home before my buddy walked up and told me he was going to go get his friends trailer to tow it home and he’d be right back. It was way cool how everyone rallied together to help me out… especially since I really had only met these guys 2 or 3 times since living in Florida. #grassrootsforlife

Here are some pictures of the car and a video of the crash. Oh well, all good things come to an end!

So, with that being said, it was time to strip this glorious chariot of all it’s guts and glory. My faithful steed, it’s time to put you to rest.

As with any twisted chassis, proper steps for destruction MUST include a sawzall. These cars really are pop cans. It probably took me a total of 45 minutes cutting time to get this thing from chassis to pile of garbage. Goodbye.

But wait….. there’s more!!

In the next installment, I will finally start talking about the new car. Yes, a new car….. House Of The 450sx v2.0!!¬† Plans were originally to salvage everything off this car, minus the chassis, and transfer everything over to the new one. However, in my infinite wisdom, took this opportunity to somehow let it snowball out of control and build what I have envisioned for years. Below are a few shots of the new chassis. She sure looks like a pile now, but this thing will be a gem when finished.

Florida Recap! (pt 1 – picture heavy)

I’m getting one more step closer to being up-to-date with this post – at least I’m talking about the current state I live in now!

NAPLES, FLORIDA

Before I get started, check out this awesome time-lapse I put together of the entire trip from AZ to FL.
Thanks to one of my best friends, Richard, for helping me move everything. The trip turned out to be one of the most hilarious and entertaining road trips I’ve ever done. Walkie Talkies are awesome.

As of August 2013, I made a long trip across the country to a new job in Naples, Florida. If any of you have ever been to this place, you will know how beautiful and picture-perfect it is. It’s really actually strange how picture perfect it is. The roads and medians are manicured with bushes, mulch, and palm trees all placed perfectly. On almost any street corner west of I-75 (save for a few select areas) you’re almost guaranteed to see a Bentley, Rolls, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, high-end Audi… you get the idea. I even saw TWO Bugatti Veyrons cruising with an Audi R8 one day… it’s really quite a unique place.

Getting settled here seemed to take some time. When I first showed up I ended up renting a room from this guy right in a convenient area of town, but I ended up having to store the car at a separate location (seen below). It was pretty awesome the hanger I was keeping all my stuff at, but INCREDIBLY inconvenient having everything far away from me and not really being able to work on the car if I wanted to.

Hangar 1

After living there and dealing with that situation for a while, I ended up moving into my own apartment that had a 1 1/2 garage. This was a LOT better! I was actually able to work on the car, attend drift events, and met a ton of awesome people in Miami, Cape Coral, as well as Naples. Here are a few videos/pictures of some events, a new lady in my life, and some Miami trips:

Lucky for me she tolerates the car ;), her family is a pretty big Mopar fan so this seems difficult at times…lol.

In addition to these Miami trips, I spent as MUCH time as I could attending events. Conveniently enough, pretty much right as I moved here….. CFRC shut down. While this isn’t a local track to me, I had heard quite a few good things about this place and since I’m used to driving everything but an oval, I was pretty bummed. Good news is that there is still a local track to me that is pushing hard to keep drifting alive in South West Florida. This place is called Three Palms Speedway (Formerly Charlotte County Speedway), and I have met a bunch of awesome people. Here are a few photos and a video from some of these events!

Arizona Recap!

Allllrighty then….It seems as though once I graduated college and moved to Arizona I decided to let this page die and fall into internet history. Well, I think it’s time to bring it back to life. (I’m serious this time)

If you are new to this site, you obviously won’t be able to tell the difference from the old site, but I’ve actually spent some serious time to transfer this blog over to WordPress from Blogger. One can only assume the time invested actually means I plan to keep things up to date. I guess we will see what happens!

I’ll use this post as a quick snapshot to 14 months of my life in Tucson, AZ.

——–

For anyone who has never been to Arizona, or to anyone who thinks Arizona is strictly desert, it is most certainly not. It’s probably one of the most beautiful and diverse places I have ever lived. The following two photos are taken in locations probably about an hour away from each other, it’s an absolutely breath-taking place to live.

Anyways, as I did in South Dakota, I did quite a bit of climbing and exploring and met quite a few amazing people that I can honestly say will be life-long friends.

On with the car pictures.

The car “as arrived” in AZ:

Opposite Grip Events at P1 Karting/Musselman Honda Circuit

This track is awesome. It’s a go-kart track near the fair grounds located on the outer edge of Tucson, I was lucky enough to live 15 minutes away from this track so, to no surprise, I spent quite a bit of time here. I actually hosted 5 separate drift events at this location before I had to move away. This was by far some of the most fun I’ve had drifting aside from with my SDDrift/OppositeGrip guys in South Dakota. Here are a few pictures from those events before I decided to give the car a little facelift and TLC:

Time for a Facelift

While in Tucson, I decided to show this thing some love in the form of…..:

– AIT URAS Type IV style kit
– 20mm and 50mm B-Magic fenders
– Powder coated the enkei’s Dormant Violet
– Matte White Plasti-Dip.
– Also finally got a bucket seat and harness!!
(Note to self and anyone reading this. Never Plasti-Dip your car white if you actually intend to use it, or forget about keeping it clean)

Arizona!

So.. made the move to Arizona after getting out of school. ¬†I’ve been meaning to post some of the pictures I took along the way up here but haven’t got around to it until just now ha. ¬†The drive was a long one and took us 3 days of driving to get it done. ¬†It is absolutely insane how much it costs to move. ¬†Rental truck..trailer..fuel for truck and minivan..hotels.. dang!!

One thing that was pretty awesome is that I got to stop in Denver and visit one of the Opposite Grip dudes Paucie! ¬†I hadn’t seen the dude in forever so it was pretty rad (even though it was only for a couple hours).

Below is a very random conglomeration of pictures over the past few months of me moving and getting settled in.

Packing up and on the way!

This was the name of the game..maxing out the fuel limits on the pumps..
We ended up stopping at this truck stop for some fuel and food.  It was very nice of them to have some easy reading while we waited for our food.

Classy bathrooms too!

Anyways… forward and¬†on-ward…wwww yeah!

Going to try and get back into rock climbing!

They do have some pretty bomb food here as well!

Sonoran hot dog! Hard to tell but there is two hot dogs in here.

I must say, Arizona has some of the best sunset’s I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

Parts of it remind me of South Dakota a lot!

Anyways, I’m here. ¬†Made it!

My last SD Drift event before the move!

Alright everyone, I’ve been pretty busy the past few months. ¬†Big things have been happening, like life changing kind of things. I graduated college (yess!!!) and accepted a job out of state. I attended my last SD Drift event in late May on the 20th. There was shenanigans, crashing, and all around awesomeness going on.

May 20th

Kris was throwin GOBS and GOBS of smoke!   I have no idea what his deal was that day but it was nuts!

One other highlight of the day is whe Kris and I hit.  my front left enkei broke a chip out of the rim and his VS-KF got bent Рha!!

Love these dudes!!!!

Hidden in the smoke… ha!

Minivans: SUPER practical!

I will say it again.  It was an AWESOME day.

SD-Drift Thunderdome Event 04/29/2012

Last weekend we held the first SD-Drift event of the year out in Sturgis, SD, it was an absolute blast! ¬†Cool dudes and nothing but tandem practice and drifting all day long makes a rad time. ¬†Here’s some media from the events. ¬†All pictures in this update come via FOTOmotive, check em out here!

Now on to the video and pics!  Driving was pretty sloppy, as to be expected after not driving for several months.

First and foremost….

In love with this picture.

Brothers gotta hug!

LOL, got too close in tandem.

Tandem!
