Florida Recap! (pt 1 – picture heavy)

I’m getting one more step closer to being up-to-date with this post – at least I’m talking about the current state I live in now!

NAPLES, FLORIDA

Before I get started, check out this awesome time-lapse I put together of the entire trip from AZ to FL.
Thanks to one of my best friends, Richard, for helping me move everything. The trip turned out to be one of the most hilarious and entertaining road trips I’ve ever done. Walkie Talkies are awesome.

As of August 2013, I made a long trip across the country to a new job in Naples, Florida. If any of you have ever been to this place, you will know how beautiful and picture-perfect it is. It’s really actually strange how picture perfect it is. The roads and medians are manicured with bushes, mulch, and palm trees all placed perfectly. On almost any street corner west of I-75 (save for a few select areas) you’re almost guaranteed to see a Bentley, Rolls, Porsche, Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, high-end Audi… you get the idea. I even saw TWO Bugatti Veyrons cruising with an Audi R8 one day… it’s really quite a unique place.

Getting settled here seemed to take some time. When I first showed up I ended up renting a room from this guy right in a convenient area of town, but I ended up having to store the car at a separate location (seen below). It was pretty awesome the hanger I was keeping all my stuff at, but INCREDIBLY inconvenient having everything far away from me and not really being able to work on the car if I wanted to.

After living there and dealing with that situation for a while, I ended up moving into my own apartment that had a 1 1/2 garage. This was a LOT better! I was actually able to work on the car, attend drift events, and met a ton of awesome people in Miami, Cape Coral, as well as Naples. Here are a few videos/pictures of some events, a new lady in my life, and some Miami trips:

This is Rachelle, she is probably one of the best things that has ever happened to me :). As of today we have been together for just over a year!

Lucky for me she tolerates the car ;), her family is a pretty big Mopar fan so this seems difficult at times…lol.

In addition to these Miami trips, I spent as MUCH time as I could attending events. Conveniently enough, pretty much right as I moved here….. CFRC shut down. While this isn’t a local track to me, I had heard quite a few good things about this place and since I’m used to driving everything but an oval, I was pretty bummed. Good news is that there is still a local track to me that is pushing hard to keep drifting alive in South West Florida. This place is called Three Palms Speedway (Formerly Charlotte County Speedway), and I have met a bunch of awesome people. Here are a few photos and a video from some of these events!

Arizona Recap!

Allllrighty then….It seems as though once I graduated college and moved to Arizona I decided to let this page die and fall into internet history. Well, I think it’s time to bring it back to life. (I’m serious this time)

If you are new to this site, you obviously won’t be able to tell the difference from the old site, but I’ve actually spent some serious time to transfer this blog over to WordPress from Blogger. One can only assume the time invested actually means I plan to keep things up to date. I guess we will see what happens!

I’ll use this post as a quick snapshot to 14 months of my life in Tucson, AZ.

——–

For anyone who has never been to Arizona, or to anyone who thinks Arizona is strictly desert, it is most certainly not. It’s probably one of the most beautiful and diverse places I have ever lived. The following two photos are taken in locations probably about an hour away from each other, it’s an absolutely breath-taking place to live.

Anyways, as I did in South Dakota, I did quite a bit of climbing and exploring and met quite a few amazing people that I can honestly say will be life-long friends.

On with the car pictures.

Opposite Grip Events at P1 Karting/Musselman Honda Circuit

This track is awesome. It’s a go-kart track near the fair grounds located on the outer edge of Tucson, I was lucky enough to live 15 minutes away from this track so, to no surprise, I spent quite a bit of time here. I actually hosted 5 separate drift events at this location before I had to move away. This was by far some of the most fun I’ve had drifting aside from with my SDDrift/OppositeGrip guys in South Dakota. Here are a few pictures from those events before I decided to give the car a little facelift and TLC:

Time for a Facelift

While in Tucson, I decided to show this thing some love in the form of…..:

– AIT URAS Type IV style kit
– 20mm and 50mm B-Magic fenders
– Powder coated the enkei’s Dormant Violet
– Matte White Plasti-Dip.
– Also finally got a bucket seat and harness!!
(Note to self and anyone reading this. Never Plasti-Dip your car white if you actually intend to use it, or forget about keeping it clean)

Arizona!

So.. made the move to Arizona after getting out of school.  I’ve been meaning to post some of the pictures I took along the way up here but haven’t got around to it until just now ha.  The drive was a long one and took us 3 days of driving to get it done.  It is absolutely insane how much it costs to move.  Rental truck..trailer..fuel for truck and minivan..hotels.. dang!!

One thing that was pretty awesome is that I got to stop in Denver and visit one of the Opposite Grip dudes Paucie!  I hadn’t seen the dude in forever so it was pretty rad (even though it was only for a couple hours).

Below is a very random conglomeration of pictures over the past few months of me moving and getting settled in.

Packing up and on the way!

This was the name of the game..maxing out the fuel limits on the pumps..
We ended up stopping at this truck stop for some fuel and food.  It was very nice of them to have some easy reading while we waited for our food.

Classy bathrooms too!

Anyways… forward and on-ward…wwww yeah!

Going to try and get back into rock climbing!

They do have some pretty bomb food here as well!

Sonoran hot dog! Hard to tell but there is two hot dogs in here.

I must say, Arizona has some of the best sunset’s I’ve ever seen in my entire life.

Parts of it remind me of South Dakota a lot!

Anyways, I’m here.  Made it!
